See below as New Mexico, OT, Reno Henderson answers some questions about the upcoming NFL daft.
Scott Porter: Who is Reno Henderson?
Reno Henderson: An intelligent and very athletic football player. Someone who does everything right and takes pride in doing the little things right. Also, someone who is quiet but comes to work.
Scott Porter: What do you feel are your greatest football strengths?
Reno Henderson: My athleticism, speed, agility and my arm length.
Scott Porter: What type of person is an NFL team getting in Reno Henderson?
Reno Henderson: A hard worker who keeps his head down and keeps pushing. Someone who will do what’s asked of him. Very coachable and has a good work ethic and cares about the production of the team and being as much help as I can be so that my team is the best.
Scott Porter: What are your greatest football accomplishments?
Reno Henderson: Being a part of a program that worked to get to a bowl game, winning a bowl game, winning or tying with Boise state, and Wyoming for the mountain division of our conference, scoring my first touchdown, and making all mountain west second team.
Scott Porter: What are you looking forward to the most about your opportunity in the NFL?
Reno Henderson: Getting to show the NFL and all my friends and family what I can do amongst the best of the best. Also, looking forward to how much better I can get all around and leaving my mark, becoming a major problem for opposing teams.
Scott Porter: What is the toughest challenge playing the offensive line position?
Reno Henderson: For me the toughest challenge is not being heavy enough like the typical offensive lineman and not being the strongest. I’m finally 285 now the biggest I’ve ever been and I never stop working out because I’m smaller so I try to make up for that in the weight room.
Scott Porter: What are your goals in the NFL?
Reno Henderson: To become a starter and hold that for many years, to be a pro bowler, win a Super Bowl ring and to hopefully get good enough to make it into the NFL hall of fame.
Scott Porter: What was your overall experience at New Mexico like?
Reno Henderson: My experience at New Mexico was good. Of course, there were many ups and downs playing here because when I got here we were losing a lot but overall I really enjoyed playing football here. Seeing the program go from winning 3-4 games a season to winning 8-9 games has been exciting for me. Also, being a part of all the work, blood, sweat and injuries it took to get our team winning again makes me feel really good for us and the many teams to come in the future. We changed the culture around here and now the New Mexico Lobos football team is a winning program.
Scott Porter: What motivates you to play the game of football?
Reno Henderson: The number one thing that motivates me to play is I really want to buy my mom a house and car. To take care of her for all that she has done for me and my siblings growing up. Second what motivates me is being good at the game. I love football because ever since I first started playing I have been pretty good. Over the years watching myself grow and get smarter in the game, just makes it more fun to me. I enjoy being a part of a team and putting myself on the line for my team because I know they all have my back. I love playing in front of big crowds and being a dominant football player.
