Youngstown State RB Jody Webb answers draft questions below as well as his time at Youngstown State.
Scott Porter: Who is Jody Webb?
Jody Webb: Most importantly, I have been through a lot and I fail to give up. Where I come from we don’t have much. I have never had a lot. In order to get to where I want to go I can’t accept to fail. I am a hard-working person with a great attitude which has allowed me to be where I am today in this position.
Scott Porter: What was your overall experience like at Youngstown State?
Jody Webb: It was an amazing experience because for so long we have tried be a complete team. It took us 4 years to do it but we got there. All the Seniors have been through the ups and downs. This season was really rewarding and everything paid off for us. This last season we decided we were going to put up or shut up and turn the culture of the program around. We ended on a high note. Maybe we should have won the National Championship but we didn’t. However, at the same time we did a lot for the program by getting to that point. When we looked back at it, it really changed the culture.
Scott Porter: What do you feel are your greatest football accomplishments?
Jody Webb: Most important building a brotherhood with my teammates in college. We achieved a lot of things together. We set high goals and we achieved a lot of those. As a team, we accomplished a lot. Our team bought into the process and came together to achieve success. That allowed us as a unit to win playoff games and get to the national championship.
Scott Porter: What type of person is an NFL team getting in Jody Webb?
Jody Webb: Blessed enough to make someone’s camp. I will give everything I have and will be well prepared. I want to prove to a staff that I will do whatever is needed to be on the field. I am a good teammate and a coachable player. Whatever it takes to contribute I want to help.
Scott Porter: How do you plan to separate yourself from a lot of other RB’s in the same range as your draft stock?
Jody Webb: Most important my preparation. I think I made my biggest jump the last two years by preparing myself. I learned how to prepare as an athlete that gives me the edge over a lot of other players.
Scott Porter: What are you looking forward to the most about your opportunity in the NFL?
Jody Webb: I am looking forward to competing at the highest level possible. I am excited for the opportunity to contribute. I have been watching football for a long time and it is finally here. My time is finally here to show what I can do on the NFL field. Being on the same level as a lot of my idols growing up has me excited.
Scott Porter: You come from a smaller school. How do you think that has helped you as a prospect?
Jody Webb: I’d say knowing that I have to go the extra mile to get any recognition. At any point, there is no down time. You have to understand you’re not the cream of the crop and you have to go above and beyond to get yourself on the map. There are 20 other Jody Webb’s out there, so I think coming from a smaller school has mentally prepared me to work harder for what I want to accomplish.
Scott Porter: What are your hobbies off the field?
Jody Webb: I like to bowl. My high score is around 200.
